Reviving a slow PC with an SSD and OS upgrade
A sluggish, ageing PC didn't need replacing — it needed an SSD and a clean, up-to-date operating system. Our team turned a frustrating machine back into a fast one.
The challenge
A PC that takes two minutes to boot and stalls on every click is one of the great daily frustrations — and the usual assumption is that it’s time for an expensive new one. Often it isn’t. This machine was slow and running an ageing operating system, but the hardware underneath was perfectly serviceable.
What we did
Our team fitted a 500GB SSD in place of the old mechanical drive — the single biggest speed upgrade most computers can get — and carried out a clean operating-system upgrade to a current, supported version. The result is a machine that feels new without the price of a new one.
The result
The same computer, now fast: quick to start, responsive to use, and running software that’s still getting security updates. A small, sensible spend instead of a big unnecessary one.
Honest about who did the work
This work was delivered by our team. We’ve anonymised the client out of respect for their privacy — but the job is real. Knowing when a machine is worth upgrading rather than replacing is part of honest device support — and an SSD upgrade is often all it takes.
