Server Support & Maintenance

Keep your business servers patched, monitored, backed up and healthy — before a quiet fault turns into a day of downtime.

Response within 4 hours On-site & remote No long contracts Windows & Mac

When the server has a bad day, the whole office stops

Your server is the quiet workhorse behind the scenes — file shares, logins, the line-of-business app, the database, print queues, backups. Nobody thinks about it until it fills its disk, misses a patch, or fails to come back after a power cut. Then everyone is standing around unable to work, and the cost adds up by the hour.

Most server problems are avoidable. Disks fill gradually. Backups fail silently for weeks before anyone notices. Security updates get skipped because a reboot is inconvenient. Server Support & Maintenance exists to catch those things early — so a small warning gets fixed on a Tuesday afternoon instead of becoming a Monday-morning outage.

What’s included

  • Proactive monitoring of disk space, memory, CPU, services and hardware health — with alerts we act on, not just log
  • Patch management for Windows Server, roles and firmware — tested and scheduled so updates don’t cause surprises
  • Backup setup and verification — we don’t just run backups, we test that they actually restore
  • Active Directory, file and print — user accounts, permissions, group policy, shared drives and print queues kept tidy and secure
  • Virtualisation — Hyper-V and VMware hosts and guests, sized and maintained so one busy VM doesn’t starve the rest
  • Cloud servers — virtual machines in Microsoft Azure or AWS, patched and monitored to the same standard as anything on site
  • Capacity and health reviews — we watch trends so you replace or resize a server before it becomes the bottleneck
  • Security hardening — removing unused roles, locking down remote access, and keeping antivirus and firewall rules current

Who it’s for

Small and mid-sized businesses across Streatham, South London, Croydon and Surrey that run one or more servers and can’t afford them going dark. That includes accountants and law firms with a database-driven practice app, creative studios pushing large files across a file server, healthcare and care providers with uptime and compliance pressure, and retailers running stock or point-of-sale systems.

It also suits home-workers and hybrid teams who still reach back to a server in the office — over a VPN or remote desktop — and need it patched, monitored and available even when nobody is on site to reboot it.

How it works

  1. Server health check — we audit each server: patch level, disk and memory headroom, backup status, Active Directory tidiness, security posture and event logs.
  2. Fix and harden — we clear the urgent issues first: failing backups, low disk space, missing patches, weak remote access.
  3. Monitoring in place — we deploy agents that watch each server around the clock and alert us to trouble before it spreads.
  4. Ongoing maintenance — scheduled patching, backup verification, capacity reviews and a monthly summary of what changed and what needs attention.
  5. Plan ahead — when a server nears end of life, we advise on the right next step: replace on site, virtualise, or move workloads to the cloud.

Problems we commonly fix

  • A server disk that quietly filled up and stopped a critical app or database
  • Backups that “were running” but had failed silently and never been tested
  • Windows Server left months behind on security patches
  • Active Directory and file permissions that grew messy as staff came and went
  • A single physical server that’s now a single point of failure for the whole business
  • Slow, overloaded virtual hosts where the VMs are fighting for memory
  • Remote and hybrid staff who can’t reliably reach the office server
  • Ageing hardware limping on, where a planned cloud move would be cheaper and safer

Server maintenance works best as part of a wider plan. It pairs naturally with managed IT support for day-to-day cover, backup and continuity so a failure is never a disaster, and cyber security to keep the server and its data locked down. If the honest answer is to move off ageing hardware, we can also help with cloud migration. Not sure where your server stands today? Get in touch and we’ll start with a health check.

Frequently asked questions

Do you support both on-premise and cloud servers?

Yes. We look after physical servers in your office, virtual machines, and cloud servers in Microsoft Azure or AWS. The monitoring, patching and backup checks are the same either way, so a mixed setup is fine.

How do you handle server patching without causing downtime?

We test and schedule updates for out-of-hours where we can, and stage them so a bad patch never hits every server at once. For critical systems we agree a maintenance window with you first, so nobody is caught off guard.

Can you look after a server we already have, or only new ones?

Both. We start with a health check of your existing server — patch level, disk space, backups, security and event logs — fix what needs fixing, then put ongoing monitoring and maintenance in place.

Should we move our server to the cloud?

Sometimes, not always. If your server is ageing, underused or hard to reach for remote staff, cloud can save money and hassle. If you run heavy local apps or large files on site, on-premise or hybrid often still wins. We give you an honest recommendation, not a sales pitch.
