When the system goes down, care doesn’t stop

A care home can’t pause. When the eMAR won’t load at a medication round, staff fall back to paper, doses get harder to track, and the audit trail CQC expects has a gap in it. When the Wi-Fi drops on the first floor, carers can’t record notes at the point of care. When a laptop holding resident records is lost or infected, you may be looking at a notifiable data breach. IT failure here isn’t an inconvenience — it puts safe care and your registration at risk.

What we look after

Care homes run more software than most people realise, and it has to work on every shift.

  • eMAR and digital care planning — Nourish, PASS by everyLIFE, Person Centred Software, Log my Care and similar systems, plus the tablets and handhelds staff carry
  • Resident records and data security — encryption, controlled access and tested backups so sensitive care and medical data stays protected
  • Reliable floor-wide Wi-Ficoverage that reaches every bedroom, lounge and corridor, not just the office
  • Accounts and emailMicrosoft 365 or Google Workspace, NHSmail links, and starter/leaver control as staff turn over
  • Devices that survive the floor — shared tablets, the nurses’ station PC and printers for MAR charts and care plans

The pressures that come with the sector

Care providers sit under real scrutiny. CQC expects your records to be accurate, contemporaneous and secure, and its inspectors will ask how you keep resident data safe. Most homes also complete the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) each year, and moving to an assured Digital Social Care Records supplier raises the bar again. All of that rests on the technical basics: who can access what, whether backups actually restore, and whether devices are patched. We put those controls in place and keep the cyber-security and backup evidence ready when you need it.

Then there’s uptime. Care is a 24/7, night-shift business, and a fault at 2am can’t wait for office hours. We design your setup to keep running when staff numbers are thin, and we’re honest about what can be fixed remotely versus what needs someone on site.

How we help

We manage care-home IT as an ongoing service, not a call-out when things break. Day to day we work remotely — resetting accounts, patching devices, watching backups and fixing faults fast. When something needs hands on the network or a device, we come to the home across South London, Croydon and Surrey. We can act as your outsourced IT department or sit alongside an existing manager, and much of the hands-on work is delivered by our sister company PC Macgicians.

Who this is for

Residential and nursing homes, dementia and supported-living services, and small groups running two or three homes who need their eMAR, records and Wi-Fi to simply work — every shift, day and night. If that’s you, get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

Do you support eMAR and digital care-planning systems?

Yes — we support the day-to-day running of tools like Nourish, PASS, Person Centred Software and Log my Care, including tablet fleets on the floor, the Wi-Fi they depend on and the accounts staff sign in with. We work alongside the software vendor when a fault sits inside their platform.

Can you help us meet the Data Security and Protection Toolkit?

Yes. We put the technical controls behind your DSPT submission — access control, encryption, tested backups and patched devices — and give you the evidence to show CQC how resident data is protected.
